Lino Cut Project
For the this project we had to carve into this rubber like piece of square and make a print out of it. I chose a Sea Turtle simply because I like them and think they are adorable. Plus that was something new that I’ve not done this year. I thought it was a fun project to try out, but wasn’t the easiest project I’ve had either. I chose to blend different colors because it gives kind of a value into the print instead of just being a solid color. I’m kind of proud with how they turned out, because honestly I felt like it was going to be impossible.
Juxtaposition Project
In this project, we had to draw an animal and watercolor it. The color part is in the square with the animal coming outside of it is colored against the outside, which is black and white. I decided to do a Blue and gold Macaw parrot, something different from what I usually do on a project. I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and decided to try the parrot because I wanted a challenge, (the feather texture mostly). But I enjoyed this project mostly because I like watercolor and find it fun.
Metal Embossing Project
In the metal embossing project, we had to plan out a drawing using a rough sketch of our project (in my slideshow), then carve it into a piece of metal our design, and lead the rest of the drawing onto the board. It was not easy, but ended up being one of my favorite projects by surprise. I decided to choose a lion because my zodiac is Leo. While I could have choose more color on the board and metal part, I didn’t because just regular pencil and shading added a dramatic effect. For my actual color I painted the eyes, almost as if when you look at them that is the first thing you are drawn to, then leading you to view the rest of the project. It did take longer than I expected it to, but this ended up to be one of my favorite projects to be honest.
Industrial Design 3D Printing Project
In our Industrial design 3D printing project, we had to come up with an idea that people would buy and could use . I wanted to come up with an idea that involves something I like, which is why I made a Cassette holder. The 3D printed project came out pretty good I think, but it was really confusing at first on how to work TinkerCad. The holder is made to look like a Rubik's Cube, which I thought would go good with the theme. The very first line on the Rubik's Cube is the part where it opens up to make the lid for the box. Inside, it has slots that will hold up to 5 cassettes. This project was not one of my favorites, mostly because I had kind of a struggle trying to get the lid size accurate to the box, but other than that, I did find the assignment enjoyable. (The red lid is the test print, which does not fit on correctly. So I had to remove some extra edges inside of it to create more space for it to fit accurately.)
Watercolor Final Project
Here is my Watercolor project, I think the outcome was pretty good. I found making the layers of the cow from a lighter shade to darker shade of black actually hard. What I guess I found in this project that was kind of difficult was when I had to work lighter to darker with watercolor otherwise it will look like an acrylic painting if I just started from dark. I put in some small details like fur (intricate brush strokes) to try to make it look realistic in a way too. This project was fun, mostly because I like cows which is why I chose it, and also that I love watercolor projects. (Some of my practice drawings and paintings are down in the slideshow below)
Plaster Sculpture Project
Here is my squirrel plaster sculpture, I left most of the features off of it to give it a little bit of a modern look. I was very happy for the way it turned out because at some points I was doubting my project turn outcome, but instead I just hoped for the best of whatever came out. I found this project actually kind of fun in a way, but just a little stressful. Overall, it Wasn’t so bad for my first time making a plaster sculpture.
Portrait Drawing
I was kind of worried to Draw Selena, but I tried it anyways and actually am proud of the outcome. I wanted to try a challenge instead of staying in my comfort zone.
Practice Face Proportions
These are my practice drawings for face proportions. I think they turned out pretty good, but my least favorite one of my drawings is the nose. I could have tried a little harder, but we learn from our mistakes, so I will know next time. My favorite one would probably be the eye drawing I feel like I did best on that one.
Sketch Book
This is my sketchbook I made, the first two pictures are my end pages. I am so proud of my sketch book, I was at first not looking forward to it, but kept moving on. I love the galaxy, so that explains my choice of fabric. it kind of describes my personality.
